My Favorite Writing Tools and How I Use Them

Do you think writing is just putting words on paper? Well, not really. Writing is a process of organizing thoughts, refining ideas, and expressing yourself clearly. Over the years working with writing activities as a student and also as a teacher, I’ve explored many tools that help make the writing process smoother, more efficient, and even more enjoyable. In this post, I’d love to share my favorite writing tools and how I use them in my writing routine.

✍️ 1. Google Docs – For Drafting and Collaboration

Google Docs is my go-to tool for drafting almost everything — from blog posts to school assignments and even creative writing. I love how it auto-saves every few seconds and allows me to access my work from any device. The comment feature is perfect for getting feedback when I share drafts with friends or teachers, and the version history has saved me more than once when I accidentally deleted something!

🧠 2. Notion – For Organizing Ideas

Whenever a blog idea hits me or I come across an inspiring quote, I jot it down in Notion. I have a dedicated writing dashboard where I keep article outlines, brainstorm sessions, and to-do lists for current writing projects. It keeps me organized and helps me track my progress.

🗂️ 3. Trello – To Plan Blog Content

Planning ahead keeps my blog consistent, so I use Trello to schedule upcoming posts. I organize cards by week or month and attach outlines or links. It’s a visual way to see what’s coming and stay on track with publishing goals.

💭 4. A Simple Notebook – For Unplugged Creativity

As much as I love digital tools, sometimes I need to unplug. I carry a small notebook for moments of inspiration — whether I'm on a bus or waiting for an appointment. There’s something special about writing by hand that sparks creativity and helps me connect more deeply with my ideas.

Writing is both an art and a discipline. The tools I use don’t write for me — but they help me write better. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of writing experience, finding the right tools can make your writing process more enjoyable and productive. Try a few of these and see which ones work best for you!

What are your favorite writing tools? I’d love to hear about them in the comments! Don't forget to check the video
